Mumbadevi Temple 2025 : Timings and Darshans

Mumbadevi Temple is a very old temple dedicated to Goddess Mumbadevi in the center of Mumbai. The temple was constructed in the 18th century and is a great place for the early dwellers of Mumbai, especially the Koli fishermen, who take Goddess Mumbadevi as their protector. The temple stands in the midst of crowded steel, cloth, and jewelry markets in Bhuleshwar, which symbolizes the busy life of Mumbai. The name of the city, Mumbai, has been taken from the Goddess Mumbadevi, so this temple is a sacred place for the inhabitants.

Goddess Mumbadevi, also known as the Goddess of Power (Shakti), is worshiped by the earliest settlers of the seven islands of Bombay, such as the Agri (salt gatherers) and Kolis (fishermen). The term “Mumba” is derived from “Maha” (great) and “Amba” (mother), which signifies her position as the great mother and guardian of the fishermen. Now, the Mumbadevi Temple remains a living testament to the vibrant cultural and spiritual heritage of Mumbai, attracting pilgrims and tourists alike in search of the blessings of the mighty Goddess Mumbadevi.
